Julep - Lena

I just LOVE this color!  I think I'll be wearing it a lot on my toes this summer.  It is Lena from Julep.  This polish is incredibly opaque and really only needs one coat. It is a little thick, but it goes on nicely and cleans up well.  Lena is a gorgeous teal color with a little golden sheen to it.  I used Zoya's Jules and Orly's Halo for an accent nail.

Disney Inspired Nails

My school recently took some of our students to Disneyland.  I LOVE Disneyland and haven't been in a long time since I don't have an annual pass anymore.  I had a little time on my hands the day before we left, and decided to try some nail art.  I am usually terrible at nail art, and so I don't do it often.  I liked how this turned out (even though it took way too long to do).

Random....

I will try doing more nail art to get some practice in.  What do you guys think of this manicure?

OPI - Oz collection - What Wizardry is This? (Liquid Sand)

I was really excited for OPI's Oz (the Great and Powerful) by Disney collection, but after seeing other people swatch them, there wasn't any one color I was gunning for.  None of the 'Liquid Sand' polishes have really caught my eye, but I saw Scrangie swatch "What Wizardry is This" and it was stunning.  Like I said, I don't really like the textured look, but with a top coat, this becomes a whole different polish that is beautiful.  It feels like sand paper, but really smooth sand paper (if that makes sense).  It isn't rough by any means, but it is bumpy.  It is sort of a thick goopy polish, but I used two coats anyways.  This is a dark golden brown shimmery spectacle.

I like is so much better with a topcoat.  Where my topcoat got a little thin, you can still see some of the texture coming through.  Next time, I'll use two layers of top coat.  Also, the texture is hanging off the tips, I'd file those off too.  I was a newbie with this liquid sand stuff, so I've learned my lessons.

What do you think about this textured polish trend?  Yay or Nay?

My first attempt at ombre nails

I did this last weekend and only took two pictures before I had to leave with my family for something.  Super bummed I forgot to take more pictures.  I have always wanted to try the ombre effect and finally gave it a go with China Glaze's Refresh-Mint and Zoya's Jules.  I like the antiqued look it has.  I used a sponge eyeshadow applicator to get the effect.  I'll try some more of this.  I'm kind of curious to use three colors.  Daring, I know.

What colors have you used that look good with an ombre effect?  What technique do you use (sponge)?

Delayed Glitzy NYE Manicure

Here are my nails that I rung in the new year with; better late than never!  I used Color Club's Disco Nap (which I received in one of my Birchboxes).  For an accent nail, I used a few coats of OPI's The Living Daylights.  It was a fun combo.  I wanted something shiny and glitzy, but not too much.  I really liked this combo except for the face that Disco Nap started chipping after a few days.  I haven't had problems with chipping nail polish in the longest time, so that was frustrating.  It really is a gorgeous color though! I love that Disco has little gold flecks in it, and it is like liquid metal.  The Living Daylights is stunning in itself too, so yea....

Let me know what you wore on your nails for New Years Eve!

My Holiday Manicure with Essie's Leading Lady

It has been a month since I last posted on nail polish!  With the holidays, school was chaotic and I didn't have enough time to paint, take pictures, and post.  My nails have been nail polish free for about three weeks.  Even my kiddos at school were asking why my nails weren't painted.  (They know me well!)  Now that I'm on break, I had some time to get back into the swing of all things nail polish.

I recieved Essie's Leading Lady from the Winter 2012 Leading Lady collection in my Winter 2012 Luxe Box this week.  Honestly, out of all the colors, this is the one I wanted least.  I love Where's My Chauffeur and Beyond Cozy, but I won't complain about a full size polish by Essie.  I don't know that I'd wear this any time of the year besides Christmas, but it's fun.

Leading Lady was very runny for a glitter polish.  It applied really nicely.  It dries to a jelly finish with red glitter.  I hated it on the first coat, but after the second coat, it looked much better with the layering of the glitter.  Thank goodness!  I didn't want to do all red, so I did an accent nail with Butter London's West End Wonderland  It is one of my favorite polishes and I thought it would be a nice festive edition to Leading Lady.

I'm really liking this combination for Christmas!  :)  What do you think?

China Glaze Hunger Games - Agro

I have waited until this time of year to wear this color and I am SOOOO excited to share it with you.  I got this last year from the China Glaze Hunger Games collection, but it just didn't fit the time of year to wear.  It finally feels right and I love this color!  This is Agro and it is the polish for District 11 (Agriculture).  It is stunning.  It is a shimmery bronzy forest green.  It applied great and I am wearing two coats (per usual).  Glad I waited to open this one, because I think I love it even more than I would have.
