I decided to try something a little more adventurous lately. Being on Spring Break, I have some extra time on my hands, so I get to try things I normally wouldn't. I used China Glaze's "Luxe & Lush" and "Re-Fresh Mint", Essie's "Penny Talk", and Julep's "Lena" for this look. I used two coats for each color except "Lena" where I only needed one. Julep polishes have amazing opacity! Enjoy!
Let me know of any fun manicure's you've tried lately. Leave me a link to your blog post if you did one on it. :)

My Birthday Mani!
I wanted to wear something fun on my nails for my birthday and I came up with this. I color blocked Essie's "Orange, It's Obvious!" and China Glaze's "Wicked Style". I really like the way these two look together and it's a festive combination great for the summer! Here are some more pictures:
Orange, It's Obvious! is a bright opaque orange. I got out my Crayola collection and this is exactly the same color as the "Orange Red" color. It does have a little bit of a red tint to it. This color is part of Essie's Spring 2012 collection. It's such a bold color for Essie that it really stood out to me and I gave in and purchased it. It only took two coats, but it was rather runny leaving me with a good mess in my cuticle beds to clean up. The nice thing was that it cleaned up easily....
Wicked Style is from China Glaze's Electropop Spring 2012 collection. It is a bright fuchsia color. It's gorgeous and something I wouldn't mind wearing on my toes all summer long. This went on really nice, but it did leave some small bubbles. The smallest bubbles I've actually ever had with nail polish.
I like the fact that these are really bright bold summer colors, but they aren't quite neons. It's a small change up from the neon craze, though I'll return to it shortly! :)
What are some good combo's that you like to color block with?

Zoya - Cynthia & OPI - Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous
Zoya's Cynthia nail polish has been on my wish list for almost a year and I found it on clearance at Ulta the other day! SCORE! It is a gorgeous deep navy blue. It's spring and not really the time of year for dark polishes, but I've wanted this one for so long that I went ahead and painted my nails with it anyways. I tried to lighten up the look a little by pairing it with OPI's Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous which is a dark metallic chromed silver.
Cynthia was a little bit more runny than all the other Zoya polishes I have, but it was still incredibly opaque. Two coats was good. Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous is on the thicker side, but it has great coverage and is easy to work with. I used a mini Sally Girl silver chuncky glitter polish for a few nails too.
I love color blocking and doing fun designs, but I wonder if I am getting to old for it. What do you think?

China Glaze - Re-Fresh Mint & Turned Up Turquoise
Here's a fun manicure I did this week. It's a twist on the 'every other nail' pattern. The two colors I used were China Glaze's "Re-Fresh Mint" and "Turned Up Turquoise". My thumb nails are the color that my middle and ring finger are on each hand. I've gotten numerous compliments on this!
"Re-Fresh Mint" is a wonderful mint pastel green. I've been on the search for a color like this and finally got this one. It isn't as opaque as I would have liked. I used three coats and there were still some thin spots. Other than that, no complaints. I LOVE the color.
"Turned Up Turquoise" is STUNNING. Unfortunately, my camera doesn't pick that up. It's neon and my camera doesn't like that. I need to get a better camera. This color is vibrant, bold, and has just the right amount of shimmer. It dries with almost a matte finish that looks like a nasty highligher look. With a clear top-coat, this polish comes to life. I highly recommend this color for Spring and Summer. I'll be rocking it frequently.
