The Color Run Manicure!

Wow!  It's been a little while.  I have been in the process of moving into a new place, so I've been quite occupied.  We got a winner for my first giveaway!

I participated in The Color Run in Pomona a few weeks ago and of course had to paint my nails to match the occassion!  If you have never heard of The Color Run, it is a 5k fun run where volunteers douse you with colored powder.  It's a blast!  Here's a cool video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EERSfHiqT8&feature=share&list=PLgPbppOsSu8PWIXHyqwk2jcZRN07E1vLy.  I took the color scheme from my running shirt.  I used Zoya's Creamy for yellow, Essie's Orange It's Obvious! for orange, China Glaze's Wicked Style for pink, and Ulta's Salon Formula in Blue Streak for blue.

I highly recommend The Color Run.  I would definitely do another one!

Ruby Wing's 'Peony' Color Changing Polish

I received Peony by Ruby Wing in a Birchbox last month.  I had never heard of this brand.  Aside from it being a great summer neon color, the thing that excited me the most is that it changes color in the sun!!!  Fun right!?  It goes from a neon coral color to a neon darker coral color.

It is really sheer.  I used three coats and it probably could have used four.  Next time, I'll use this over a white polish to help.  For an accent nail, I used China Glaze's 'Refresh Mint' which is one of my favorite mint colored polishes.

Are there any other color changing polishes you have used?  I'd be interested to hear what other brands make them.

Teal Mix n' Match Manicure

I decided to try something a little more adventurous lately.  Being on Spring Break, I have some extra time on my hands, so I get to try things I normally wouldn't.  I used China Glaze's "Luxe & Lush" and "Re-Fresh Mint", Essie's "Penny Talk", and Julep's "Lena" for this look.  I used two coats for each color except "Lena" where I only needed one.  Julep polishes have amazing opacity!  Enjoy!

Let me know of any fun manicure's you've tried lately.  Leave me a link to your blog post if you did one on it.  :)

April 2013 - Julep Maven

April's Julep Maven box was themed 'The Brights' with some pretty intensely bright colors.  I was happy with the two colors I received.

My two 'brights' I got were Kaylen which is a bright orange and Lena which is a shimmery teal.  I wouldn't quite call either one neon but they are bold and fun for spring and summer.  Kaylen is more creamy and a solid color.  Lena is GORGEOUS!  I cannot wait to get this on my toes!  :)  It is my favorite color, but it has this amazing shimmer in it.

The extra item this month was "Mighty" nail and cuticle serum.  It is supposed to help dry and damaged cuticles overnight.  It has a twist brush applicator which is nice.  I haven't used it yet because I'm still using my Julep cuticle oil I got in my first box over a year and a half ago.  That stuff lasts FOREVER!  Amazing.

Also included was this cute little rock candy.  I don't think it is flavored, but if it is, I'll be happy.  I'm not big on just eating sugar flavored sugar.  Fun addition.

What is your favorite 'bright' polish?

Essie - Butler Please

Another gorgeous bright blue!  This has easily become my favorite color of nail polish over the last year.  Essie's "Butler Please" is from the Leading Lady Winter 2012 collection.  This is a very close dupe to my #1 polish Nails Inc. "Baker Street".  This is a little more creamier looking and a little cheaper.  I am wearing two coats here.  It was very liquidy and ran all over, but it cleaned up off my skin pretty well.

What color of nail polish do you find yourself always being drawn to?

Zoya - Natty

Here is Natty by Zoya.  I got this in the buy one get one free last month.  I LOVE it.  It is a dusty navy blue color that is perfect for fall.  Oddly enough, it reminds me of the color of a whale.  I did an accent nail with Zoya's Jules (one of my all time favorites).  I used two coats and 3 days later, it looks just as great as it did on day 1.  Gosh, Zoya nail polishes never disappoint.
What colors are you loving for Fall?
